information you may provide is handled in a safe and
secure manner. If you have any concerns about

to place your order by telephone. Below we've
tried to answer some of the most common questions
and concerns about security. If you don't find your
question answered here, contact us by e-mail or by
telephone. If we decide to change our privacy
policy, we will post those changes here so that you
are always aware of what information we collect and
how we use it.
Is it safe to use my credit card to make purchases
on The Moccasin Shop?
We offer
secure online shopping which means that all products
on our site can be ordered online using Netscape
Navigator® or Microsoft Internet Explorer® (web
browsers that support secure transactions). Your
online order is placed using a secure transaction
server that will encrypt the order for security. If
you are using a browser that doesn't support secure
transactions, you can place your order by telephone,
fax, or regular mail. Please note that if you
should see a padlock at the bottom of your window
when placing your order, if you do not please
contact us.
Which parts of The Moccasin Shop is secure?
The
portion of the site we've made secure is the
checkout area. This area of the website is where you
actually purchase the items you've put into your
Shopping Cart. The entire checkout process, from the
introduction to seeing your final confirmation,
takes place in a secure environment.
There
are several ways to confirm that you're in a secure
area. All SSL capable browsers have a symbol to
indicate a secure mode, which is usually located in
the lower right or lower left corner of the browser.
Specifically, the symbol could be a "closed" lock or
"complete" key (vs. an "open" lock or "broken" key
which would indicate normal or "insecure" mode).
You can
also tell when you're in a secure area because the
URL to the left of the colon changes from "http" to
"https" to signify that a SSL protocol is being used
to communicate with the server (http = HyperText
Transport Protocol; https = HTTP with SSL). In most
browsers you'll also see a solid blue line in the
upper portion of the browser's window which is
another visual aid indicating you're browsing a
secure area.
Most of
the activity on our site involves the viewing of
content we've prepared and made accessible to all
visitors, so there is no need for these pages to be
"secure." With a product page, for example, no
security risk exists because there is no information
being exchanged.
